Powhatan Volunteer Rescue Squad is an organization that serves residents and visitors of Powhatan County with 24-hour emergency medical services, at both the basic and advanced life support level. We are the "other end" of 911 when you call for sick or injured family members in Powhatan County, Virginia. We work hand in hand with local fire departments, the Sheriff's department, and surrounding regional agencies. We are dispatched to calls by the Powhatan County Public Safety Communications dispatch center. We are neighbors volunteering to help neighbors, friends, and strangers through some of their worst times.
As a part of the Powhatan fire and rescue department as a whole, we work closely with our local fire companies to ensure that the most effective and state of the art patient care and service is delivered to the citizens of Powhatan county using the most advanced equipment. Our members also undergo rigorous training classes on a continual basis to ensure that the best possible patient care is rendered in some of the worst possible environments. The best form of thank you is seeing one of our patients make an expedient healthy recovery from their injury or illness all as a direct result of quick field intervention.
Effective July 1, 2012, Powhatan Volunteer Rescue, Inc., at the request of the County of Powhatan, began charging for services. Information is obtained from the patient during transport, including insurance information and signatures and sent to a third party billing service, EMS MC, for processing.
