What's new to this website...
Recent updates or changes to the website, with the most recent appearing first, include:

 

The squad's SOP and Bylaws are posted in the MEMBERS ONLY section.

The email lists for individual members as well as group email lists has been updated on the CONTACT US pages.  ***Please note the new format of the email addresses in an effort to reduce spam mail.

The local protocols for basic EMTs has been updated on the PROTOCALS page.

The MEMBERS ONLY section is accessible now.  Instructions for accessing these pages are posted at each building and in your email.

The MEMBERS ONLY section is currently being upgraded to improve security and also automatically allow all current members access without having to make an official request for a password.  Note:  Those currently with access will not be able to use your user names and passwords anymore - they are now obsolete.

The forms pages for requesting applications, CPR classes, making pavillion reservations, and standby requests have all been redone to improve appearance and are now set up to automatically send emails to respective squad personnel with all requested information.

The website was switched to a new host service overnight on August 16, 2005.  Check for instructions at each building on how to log in and use your email.  You will find the new system much more user friendly and have many more options.

The July 2005 membership meeting minutes have been posted to the Members Only section.

Updated membership roster in Members Only section, to include qualifications on the trucks.  A legend for the color coded qualifications appears at the bottom of the roster page.  Please email the webmaster if changes are necessary.

Posted info on the proposal before the Board of Supervisors, including a copy of a news article that appeared in the Powhatan Today newspaper.

Posted February meeting minutes to Members Only section.

Added mutual-aid radio patch procedures and information to the members only section.

Posted January's membership meeting minutes in the MEMBERS ONLY section.

Added local protocol links on the PROTOCOLS page for the use of aspirin, epi-pen, and albuterol.  Currently, only the aspirin link is active.

Created a link page in the vertical links to ODEMSA's pre-hospital patient care protocols.

Created a PVRS Members Only link for internal information sharing for current rescue squad members.  This information includes, but is not limited to, home phone numbers, SOP, By-laws, membership meeting minutes, etc. 

Added an Amber Alert ticker that will scroll any Amber Alert information across the bottom of the screen.  Click the bar for more information.  Amber Alerts are issued for missing kids with unusual circumstances and is a nationwide alert system.

Added a flash introduction to the website.  If you are using a dial-up connection, this will be slow to download.   What do you think of it?  Email the webmaster.

Redesigned the home page with layered graphics to attempt to make it more professional in appearance, and also download faster.  Will work on updating other pages as quickly as possible.  Some links on older pages my be broken or missing.  Keep checking back....this work is planned to be finished by 1-28-05.

Added the weather magnet from the Weather Channel to give you a quick glimpse of the local weather from the main page.  Make sure that your Internet Explorer allows active content if you are unable to view this item.

.Photos have finally being added to the Photo Galleries pages showing us in action.  Additional photos will be added as they are obtained.

Updated the annual statistics on the CALL STATISTICS page, to include the 2004 year total and the monthly breakdown for 2004.

Added additional links to VDH on the LINKS and TRAINING pages to indicate some EMT Basic classes that are available during 2005 in the area.

Added a holiday fire safety link to the Local Weather link page, along with a marquee banner on the home page.  Updated the email and membership names on the Contact Us pages.

A new training event has been posted to the training events link.  Check it out and let Lynne Beach know if you are planning to attend so that way they have a head count on how much food to provide for dinner.  At the present time, this training is limited to PVRS members only.

Added an Events Calendar page for tracking of squad functions.  If you have something to add to this page, please contact the webmaster for consideration.  There are 2004 and a 2005 calendar links in the menu bar.

In an effort to reduce download times, especially for those on dial-up connections, most of the photos in the GALLERIES section have been reduced in size after you click on them for enlargement.

Fixed the email send functions when visitors request pavilion reservations, membership applications, CPR training classes, and stand-by requests.  Now, the squad persons responsible for addressing and answering these requests will get an email immediately and automatically.

Added a Wish List... link for future plans or desires of this website.  If you have information or time to help out, take a look  at the link and see.

The Statistics page will hopefully be updated by October 1, 2004.  Special thanks to Greg Palmer with Powhatan County for assisting in this effort.

Updated Types of Membership page to reflect weekly duty hour requirements for active members, and added that EMT certification was not necessary for membership eligibility.

Added Powhatan County's new local government website to the Links page.  VAVRS/Lifeline and co.powhatan.va.us will be adding links to their pages in the near future that link back to us. 

Added a WebMail client to the website so that members with existing squad e-mail accounts could access their individual email accounts.  If you have any problems or questions with this addition, please contact the webmaster via email, phone, or in person.

Added additional information on class schedules and instructors for CPR on the Training page.  Also added a class registration form so that interested parties or groups could channel that information directly to the instructors via e-mail.

Added Homeland Security Threat Level Monitor to Home page.

The void dates that reflect availability for the PVRS pavilion areas has been added and updated.

Added a portable generator safety link to the Weather Page, as well as hurricane safety and preparedness.
