What we do...

Powhatan Volunteer Rescue Squad is an organization that serves residents and visitors of Powhatan County with 24-hour emergency medical services, at both the basic life support level and advanced life support level.  We are the "other end" of 911 when you call for  sick or injured family members, and victims of accidents in Powhatan County, Va.  We work hand in hand with local fire departments and are dispatched to calls by the Powhatan County Sheriff's Department -- We are neighbors volunteering to help other neighbors, friends, and strangers.

Our services are provided free of charge for field treatment and transportation to an appropriate emergency medical facility in the Richmond Metropolitan area.

Our members undergo rigorous training classes on a continuing basis to ensure that the best possible patient care is rendered in sometimes the worst possible weather or other environmental conditions.  Yes, it is sometimes hard and maybe even dangerous work, but it is very exhilarating

knowing that the public is thankful for our work and efforts.  The best form of thank you is seeing someone who was one of our patients make an expedient and healthy recovery from their injury or illness, all as a direct result of quick field intervention.

We are also involved in the community at various events, providing a visible presence, teaching methods of safety, accident prevention, teaching first aid and CPR, as well as demonstrating and showing the emergency equipment that you, the public, have helped purchase.  Take a look at your latest investment here.

If you are interested in giving back to your community, consider a public service organization such as the Powhatan Volunteer Rescue Squad.  We'll ensure you get the training you need to be an invaluable asset to your community.  Visit our membership or application pages to get started....
